  1. Generators are loud they usually are a 2 cycle gas engine.  If using one run long cords and keep it away from activity area if possible.  You power capacity is limited by the size of the generator so know what you need then choose accordingly

  2. they do make generators that are quieter, their costly but worth it for something like that.  But with a regular run it far enough away from the crowd and i'm sure there will be some music or chatter to cover the sound.  Also generators get very hot they will burn someone severly if touched.  Make sure kids stay far away from it.  You may want to think about masking it with some kind of barricade like room devider or fencing.  Also with the cords you can buy some PVC piping and run the cords through there to ensure noone trips over them.

  3. what do you need the generater for ?

  4. Honda eu 2000 is very quiet. they run around $1000 but they are worth every cent! You can only hear a low hum and if placed in the correct location, you wouldn't notice it.

                                 Congratulations!

  5. Very loud and annoying

  6. Listen to rotten peaches.

  7. Buy an Inverter(DC 12volt to AC 120 volt ) attach to your car battery .inverter range you can check they come from 75 watt to 1500 watt .if the battery power going low start your car engine and you can use as long as you want .and it is cheap .

  8. Yes, generators were a no go for our wedding, we instead hired a crew with their own equipment, music, microphones and spotlights, they came with a minibus and did not need to be near our ceremony, wasn't so expensive, and our guests stayed well into the evening enjoying themselves.

  9. Generators are loud no matter how expensive they are.I would suggest Camping Lights with florescent bulbs  they are bright and if you use lots of them you will have plenty light and no noise.

  10. u can use one....just move it away from the main area...when using a drop cord be sure u use the correct Gage for the length from gen to where its needed and usage .......a Honda is the best to use and u can even rent them.....last, build a plywood box, 2' bigger than the gen and cover the outside of it with 4x8 insulation board to reduce sound.....drill holes where the intake and exhaust is on gen for air......

i build many houses where we cant wait for the electric to be hook up to the T-pole and with houses next door the hate the gens.....so i box them in and cuts the noise by about 60%....

    lic. gen. contractor
