Hello I will be going in at 545am to be induced to have my Baby boy,and of coarse I am sooooo excited, but Im getting more nervous, and scared the closer it gets! Please tell me what is it like? Im really scared about the epidural pain more than the birth itself! Does it hurt real bad to get the epidural?,,,,Also I have these thoughts that like my dad is going to die,and I get really sad,and cry sometimes It really gets to me bad, because im really close to him! Could this be my hormones?I just want those thoughts to go away!...Any advice helps thank you:)

  1. Well I haven't gone through labor yet, but I will in a couple of months. I just wanted to say good luck! My friend Monica just had her baby the other day and she had an epidural. She said it just feels like a poke at first and hurts a little, but then you're numb. Don't be sad! I know you're scared and worried about your dad and labor, but everything will be fine :) try to focus on your baby and start checking everything around the house to make sure everything is in order, so you can take your mind away from negative thoughts. Good luck with everything and congrats on the baby boy! :)

  2. The worst thing about the epidural is what YOU have to do to get it in.  I sat on the bed and leaned over while my husband was pulling my arms to help strech me over further, with that big ol belly that is not easy, but once it is in it is awesome.  I don't even rember feeling the needle go in I was so focused on leaning forward and the pressure on my belly. It will be fine. Good luck and congrats

  3. Yeah totally the hormones. . . .

&& its not that bad I had a completely natural birth.NO MEDICATIONS!

so I wouldn't be able to tell you about the epidural.

    Good LUck!

  4. How funny, Im being induced on the 6 and very nervous as well.

they say to get the shot because it hurts bad.

    good luck

  5. first of all congratulations. If u have contractions then the epidural won't hurt at all.You will be more focused on the contractions rather then epidural, hold off the longest before getting the epidural that works the best. I have 3 boys so I know that one..Your scared cause you don't know what to expect. The question about your dad.I'm not pregnant but the thought of me even thinking about my dad passes makes me cry now, cause he's my best friend. Don't worry you'll be ok with the birth.Oh i got induced for my 2nd son and the cervidil bulb they put in hurts on because it's opening your cervix.Well good luck i hope I answered your questions.kw

  6. Epidural doesn't hurt badly.  Plus it feels really great once it gets going.  Your hormones are swinging b/c baby is near.  Do some fun things this week.  Once baby is here, you won't be going out much ;)

  7. The epidural is not that bad.  I was more scared than anything.  I waited a long time before I got mine. I wish I would have done it sooner because it is so much better than labor.  After the epidural, you don't feel anything but pressure.  The hardest thing for me was my "world" out there for everyone to see. You are going to do fine. I think the other is hormones.

  8. You will be fine sweetie! The epidural is scary to think about, but they are great to have. The don't hurt to much and beat the c**p out of strong contractions.  Your contractions will be stronger by being induced into labor so I would definately get one. I was induced with my last baby and was pretty close to begging for mine by the time I got it..lol  I would say the thoughts are being brought on by hormonal shifts.  Try talking to your dad as often as you can and make plans on how you can involve the baby with granddaddy. I wish you the very best of luck sweetie!
