Im having problems with my 04' Chevrolet Impala dashboard lighting

When the automatic lights turn on at night the dashboard lights and radio lights cut off, the k**b to adjust the lighting level doesn't affect anything except you can turn on the ceiling lights. The radio and ac still works, its just the lights are extremely dim, and you can't see them unless it is completely dark outside and even then the lights behind the speedometer don't come on. I think that it is probably a fuse of some sort, or maybe its something to do with the ignition switch which the car has also had problems with. I'll welcome all answers but i would prefer someone who has already had to deal with the problem themselves, thanks...

Iknow that you wanted someone that had the some problem to answer,but iwas just thinking when the auto lights come on dose'nt that mean that just the head light come on and you don't have tail light's until you turn the light switch on,for so reason i think that's way the dash light's are'nt working so you will remember to turn the head light switch on. One night when the light's come on auto,look and see if you have tail light
