Im having problems with my 1979 ford f100 any ideas?

i have a 1979 ford f100 with a 302 that has a 2 barrel carb it starts fine idles fine but when you give it gas it pops in the carb like a cap gun going off any ideas .

 when its popping out of the carb that means the timing is off just bring you first cylinder up and take your distributor cap off and see if the rotor is pointing anywhere towards your #1 spark plug if not take the distributor out and put your rotor back to where that #1 spark plug wire is and that should solve all of you problems
