i dont know if its anyway fixable but i have a hyper metal hm-3 and when plug it in the amp is so quiet i have to turn it up as high as i can to hear anything, and when i try to turn the pedal on the light turns on but there is no change in sound... the same thing happened to my cry baby pedal. this might be a stupid question but is there anything i could be doing wrong? or are they just getting old or what?

  1. You're going to have to troubleshoot your rig. Start by plugging your guitar straight into the amp. Does it work? If not, it's either your guitar, the cord, or the amp. Get a different cord, check again. If it doesn't work, it's the amp or the guitar. If this is the case, take your guitar to an amp that works. Whichever it is of those two, take it to a music shop and have a tech take a look at it.

Assuming guitar, cables, and amp all work, try plugging each pedal in, one by one. This isolates the problem. It sounds like either there is a loose wire in one of the pedals or you've got a dead battery (or two). Replace your batteries or get wall warts for your power source.

Pedals don't get "old" - they don't just stop working for no reason at all... either they've been hit, dropped, doused in water or flame, had a battery hooked up backward, or they've got a dead battery.

    Good luck!

  2. change the battery
