Im having some speaker problems for my computer?

ive tried to plug them in to every one of the color things.

but they wont work and when i open up control panel and try to connect them it always says 'no audio device'.

help!

its a dell computer and on the speaker it says 'altec lansing'

Will headphones work? Most the time when it says that your computer doesnt recognize you have a sound card installed. If that is the case the best thing might be go online to dell's website and download the driver for your sound card.
