  1. 1. avoid caffeine (tea, coffee, chocolate, coke) after noon.

    2. Have a regular bedtime routine

    3. Try camomile tea (no milk) which is a herbal, calming drink.

Try to talk with someone you like and trust about the thing that's worrying you.

  2. Insomniac for 20 years..tried every possible solution under the sun..all ineffective or not readily available.

All the trivial cutting out of things like coffee and taking warm baths etc are useless in treating chronic insomnia that is a secondary symptom of your ocd and anxiety.

I discovered Melatonin and wow!..i sleep..i actually sleep!!

Get it off the net from a reputable supplier and slumber peacefully at last.

  3. dont try to go to sleep drink tea and jus lay there thinking about whatever until u do, dont take sleeping pills ever, they will make u think u need them and cause a addiction going to sleep is all in ur head dont force it

  4. i have trouble sleeping some times.

Just think of cool soothing things.

i usual think of a colour usual blue for some reason then just like let my imagination go and like pretend its like looking up into the sky.

  5. its not nice when you can not sleep

try a set time for bed

    read a good book

do some light exercise 1-2 hours prior to bed

don't drink any tea coffee after around 8.30pm but have a milky drink

    try a relaxing bath

talk with someone you trust about your problems or your gp

as with your ocd and things on your mind no wonder you can not sleep

see your doctor as this is important because sleep deprivation is not

nice and can lead to other mental health problems if not seen to

good luck and hope things get better for you

  6. Sorry to hear you can't get to sleep and that you have OCD.....do you often find it hard to sleep, or is this unusual for you?  It can help to just get up for half an hour or so, have a hot drink (pref. not strong coffee!), maybe write down a few notes about whatever is on your mind - e.g if there is something you have to do tomorrow, just write a note to remind yourself, - then maybe listen to some quiet music/read a book, then just turn in when you feel sleepy, not before..

Are you seeing anyone for treatment, or taking any meds?  In the UK, one over-the-counter tablet that can help sleep and is not habit-forming is Phenergan (antihistamine), or Nytol.  If you take it an hour or so before you hope to get to sleep, hopefully you will not feel drowsy in the morning.

Hope this helps....I am a night-owl by nature, and am sitting up listening to relaxing worship music from Toronto (I live in UK) - maybe your body clock just runs later hours than some other people's, and you can adapt yourself in time.  Help, I have to get up early to play piano at church.....!
