I just picked up some info for my trip south in September, this is what I found.

A&R Bar-B-Que  1802 Elvis Presley Blvd. Memphis.

Bozo's Hot Pit BBQ 342 Hwy. 70 Mason

Cozy Corner 745 N. Parkway Memphis

Dixie Barbeque Co. 3301 N Roan St.(Kingsport Hwy) Johnson City

Interstate Barbeque 2265 S. Third St. Memphis

The Rendezvous 52 S. Second St Memphis

Leonard's 5465 fox Plaza Memphis

The two that I most certainly want to get to are Interstate and The Rendezvous.  I know I won't get to both so I will be watching here for other resposes to your question as well.

go on oprah winfry website, she had a show about the best places to eat in the usa, for different food items, bar-b-que was one of them, you should find help on there.

I was born and raised in Memphis, although I don't live there now.  My all time favorite rib restaurant is The Rendezvous.  It's in downtown Memphis.  I even had my friend who lives there ship me some of the dry rub they use on their ribs.  It's great.  If you want a BBQ sandwich there in Memphis, I'd recommend Corky's.
