1. Unsigned drivers are still often supplied, which simply means that they have not been verified by agreement with and testing by Microsoft, so don't carry a WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) certificate.

It's common and the warning message is over dramatic. The intention is to make people worry a bit about installing just "any old" driver, and can make things awkward for the vendors too, but it only rarely leads to issues. If you have the latest driver software available from the manufacturer, you won't get a better one.

The newest driver for your 3630 is here: http://support.microtek.com/downloads/dr...

Being a 28mb download, I'm guessing it includes a basic software suite along with WIA and twain drivers.

As far as I know that pack isn't logo tested either and most likely it never will be. My advice therefore is to select continue. Take a backup first, or perhaps cover yourself with System Restore (if that is running on your system now, a checkpoint named "unsigned driver install" will be created in any case). I'm sure you'll be fine.

I don't mean to trivialise the Logo program, which is well intentioned. I'm sure Microtek should really get their drivers logoed. I notice there's no Vista driver for this scanner and this is relatively old software. Perhaps they do play the game with their newer products.
