Im in a middle of a divorce?

i have a 1 year old child, i want to know if i am allowed to move to another state if i divorce...or i cant...the dad would like to see the child. but i only have family in another state..what can i do

  1. No you can't. Don't do it. The child is not jsut yours. You'll need to stay put to allow visitation.


  2. That depends upon the circumstance, what the laws in your state are, and how the dad feels about it.

Each state differs but if you are in the middle of a divorce and not "completely divorce" then I would give it a second thought because one parent cannot absent the child from the other without facing the possibility of losing custody. In almost all state one parent cannot take the child/children across state lines because it would be considered parental abduction.

  4. Technically you can… but you will be responsible for transporting your child back and forth for his visitation rights.

    Morally you should think of more than just you… how will this kind of back and forth travel affect your child?


  5. Your in for a fight my friend. Especially if he is a good parent and he fights for his rights

  6. My best advice would be to ask a attorney who is familiar with the law where you live: )
