Im in illinois, my ex wife was just arrested for stealing someones credit cards and?

and she ran up over 7,000 dollars in bills, she also has 2 theft charges she was going to court for...im just wondering what class felony you think credit card fraud is and possible sentenceing??

  1. Credit card fraud with other charges will get her at least 10 years behind bars and then she will have to make restitution also and maybe some probation.

  3. Illinoise could be different, BUT in TX, the crimes you describe would likely be prosecuted as "credit card abuse" which is a state jail felony which carries a sentence of 6mos-2yrs. Each time she used the card counts as a seperate felony.

    They may be able to, or want to, charge her with theft instead. Partly because they could potentially hit her with steeper sentencing since she is already facing charges for theft.

    Try googling "penal code + IL" and see if you can get some spate-specific info.

    All felonies.

    She'll probably miss Christmas and New Years's for several years.
