I'm guessing you want to holiday outside out the UK, since the closest nice beach city there is Cornwall. If you don't mind going far... Hawaii and the South Pacific is ideal. Closer would be the French and Italian Riviera :)

Try somewhere in the Caribean. Usually not so well known places can be a great destination for a vacation. Visit a travel agent too and get their advice. Also talk to friends about where to go on vaction.
