  1. Your gonna think its great the first day, then it gets harder and harder. Welcome to marching band.. rookie

  2. its all worth it! your legs will hurt and so will your arms...but its soo fun. just look foward to longg hours of sun!! you get a tan! wowsers...but you learn how to count off and stuff like that...you'll learn all your moves! :)) lol

but listen well and you'll do fine

  3. My band camp lasted for a week from like 8 am - 6 pm, but we didn't have sleep overs xD

Did running, practicing drill, getting sweaty and of course lots of marching! But of course, it was pretty fun too, its like hanging out with family :]

By the way, bring water and sunscreen! (I got really tan from band camp >:[ )

  4. My band doesn't do the typical band camp thing at a local college campus. We have a two week 7 hour a day get together at the school before the actual school year begins. The first half of the day starts off with breathing exercises to get us ready for the music part of the show. Then we sit in our sections and play the music as a band, sometimes going off and having sectionals. Dinner break for an hour. Then back to practice, except we go to the small gym because it's still too hot to even think about going outdoors, (I live in Arizona). So we do muscle stretching and relearn the basics... or learn the basics if you're new. By 9 PM, we are worn, dillusional, and just want to pass out in the band room, instrument and all. But there is a complete sane reason why any of us join marching band: to get that awesome high from performing the show perfect when every practice it was c**p. I will never forget that time, we performed at ASU band day and we were all absolutely nervous. But by the end of the show, everyone had a smile on their face and we radiated success. Believe it or not, we had a great reason. We performed a top Division I score and we were a Division II band!

  5. aww sweetie! i play clarinet too. i love newbies! haaa

anyways, it is so much fun!

sure, it is hot as h**l, but it is a very good experience.

we do warm ups, and then for the first week, we learn/relearn marching techniques. and that's usually in the morning. then we eat lunch. then we have music rehearsal.

then the second week, we start setting our drill(the funnest part!) and then the same w/ lunch, then music rehearsal.

band camp is the highlight of my summer every year!

    have fun girl!

  6. watch american pie:band camp thts pretty much it

  7. It's really fun! You get to hang out with your friends and do fun things... it's like a huge big sleepover =P

  8. Well first off, band camp isn't like the American Pie movies or like band camps you see in tv shows unless it was a documentary. Band camp is around 3 weeks or 3 and 1/2 weeks of work on preparing for your field show. It also teaches you marching techniques and you learn your marching music. It does generally gets harder as the week progresses, you'll be spending more time in the sun. However, band camp shouldn't be something to be overly anxious or worried about. Band camp is a time to improve your playing, get in shape hopefully, and make new friends.

  9. Well, this one time, at band camp...

  10. This one time at band camp......

ha ha.  I also was in the marching band in high school.  I did this for four years and had a good time.  I also played clarinet.  I don't really remember band camp too well except that it was on a college campus and lasted for a week.  We slept in the oldest nastiest dorms and I remember being hungry because I had no one to go to the cafeteria with.  Silly really, now that I think of it.  I should have just gone, taken care of myself.  I remember practicing a lot!  More so than would have really like to.  We did a performance for the parents at the end of the week.    Hope that helps some.

  11. No band camp is NOT like the movie american pie band camp. You will completely hate it the first day. Your arms will hurt, your calves will hurt, you'll be sweating like a pig. But, that's why you join, right? To expierience those things, so after your first show and your first place trophie it'll feel great. Like you climbed a mountain that everyone gave up on, and looked over the horizon. You'll march in the heat, cold, rain, wet, snow and mud, but you'll joke about it after the year is done with your new band family. Everyone has your back in Band ^_^ its like a whitness protection program. Band is Great fun, you'll love it. If you're not cmopletely sure, try it for 1 year.
