With the different audio formats out like Dolby HD and DTS HD are these audio formats only available through HDMI or can you also get them through digital outputs and coaxial digital?

  1. Digital audio is digital audio. HDMI is a connector that can send both digital video AND digital audio. If you hook up the blue ray player to a TV with HDMI, then that is the only cable needed. If you hook it up with Component cables( for video only) then for sound, you would use either coaxial or optical cables for sound.  And your TV does not need to be a 1080p TV. As long as it or a surround sound receiver has the connectors and is capable of the new audio formats then your good to go. 1080p is the best picture you can get, but even if you have a 720p TV, you will be fine.

  2. I thinks its both, you have option, don't plug in both (overload), make sure you have a 1080p TV and your set
