Im interested in gettin a chameleon for a pet.?

Any ideas on how much care they require.

They are *extremely* hard to care for and very expensive (not only to buy, but to maintain).  I would look at a different lizard.

They are mostly a "SHOW PET" verus one that you can handle. Handling can stress them out to the point of death if you aren't careful.  They required very specific humidity ranges and light and heat.  If things are off even a little then they won't thrive.  I suggest either a bearded dragon or a blue tongue skink for starters.

To care for them properly and give them a good life, it takes a lot of money and attention.  My boyfriend has one and we're always doing and buying things for it.

They aren't very hardy animals and are known for dropping dead. Not all of them, but enough that it would make me think twice before buying one.
