“I’m interested in managing the Blue Jays,” says Ken Macha
According to Ken Macha’s recent comments as he is interested in Toronto Blue Jays’ managerial job, many experts and close sources are also saying that he is a possible candidate and the Jays’ management might engage in talks with him.
“I’m interested in managing the Blue Jays, I’ve applied for the job, sent off my resume, it would be honour to be considered for the job. I haven’t had an interview from one team (hiring a manager) this off season,” said Macha from Pittsburgh on Friday afternoon and showed his desire to come and give his services in the Blue Jays.
He added, “For myself, I didn't stay in the game all these years because I hated it. I love the game, and cool things happen when you go down there.”
Macha is a talented individual and also possesses large Major League Baseball experience. As a player and as coach as well as manager, Macha knows the game with its inside complexities.
Some say that he will be the right man to manage the Blue Jays in coming potential years. While some say that it will be a big mistake from the Blue Jays’ side if Macha is given the job at the moment.
Blue Jays current general manager Alex Anthopoulos fancy “an experienced manager ... someone he knows ... some one he can work with.”
Later Anthopoulos said on the managerial hiring process and explained about the possible developments in the Blue Jays, “We need to follow up, We need to get more in-depth, call it second round, the final round.”
Though it is debatable as whether he is enough capable to manage Toronto side or it is still an early call to bring another manager whose track record is not what Blue Jays require to finish at top.
Macha started as a professional baseball player in 1974 with the Pittsburgh Pirates platform. Later he also played for the Montreal Expos, Toronto Blue Jays and Chunichi Dragons.
As a Major League coach, Macha was hired by the Montreal Expos, California Angels and Oakland Athletics while as a manager, he worked with the Athletics and Milwaukee Brewers.
