Im currently deciding on Callaway's HX hot and Titliest's NXT tour. I can't seem to put my finger on a one. If you have any suggestions, anything would be great.

Thanks

  1. Of the two you name I would suggest the NXT tour. Personally I play the Nike One Platinum or ProV1. I would have no problem buying a box of the NXT tour's to play though. I actually really like them. It doesn't make much since for a beginner to buy a high priced ball, so I would suggest you start  with a sleeve of the NXT. See how you like the ball after one sleeve, then you can stick with it or try something else. They are cheaper than the other balls I mentioned and a fine place to start.

When you start shooting in the low to mid 80's then look into moving up to some of the higher end golf balls.

  2. To be honest with you, since your a beginner you won't be able to tell the difference between most balls. As soon as you play more, then worry about the selection of your ball. Good luck.

  3. I use Titleist ProV myself.

But if you are starting out and money is a consideration then  look at some of the other cheaper brand name - they are just as good.

The only time you are really going to feel the effect of the balls are your putting.

  4. Titleist NXT Tour is a good ball and $12-15 cheaper.  It's long, it's soft and a very good spin rate.  I am a 7 Handicap and prefer the NXT over the ProV.

  5. Find the cheapest ball possible. It's not going to make a difference right now to be honest. And you'll save your money for  when you actually 'get a feel' for the game.

I used Intech's Limbo balls for several months and still do sometimes... found blemished on golfballs.com for $6.95 a dozen!!! Now that's a steal.

Gave it to a scratch golfer friend of mine that used it and he said it felt like a rock but hit it almost the same distance as he did with a ProV1.

Rolls good on the green and is a great ball to have in the bag when hitting a 140 yard par 3 over a canyon! LOL

But seriously... don't waste money on golf balls till you are at least a bogey golfer! That's 18 over par or a bogey per hole. Then maybe move to a $15.00 brand like Maxfli Noodle long and soft or something like that... Get down to the 15 handicap and maybe try the NXT Tour and get the feel for those!

    Save money! GOLF IS EXPENSIVE!

  6. Try them both and see which one you like.  It is up to you to determine what works for you.  I have used all kinds of golf balls.  I currently play Nike One Black.

  7. You obviously have many choices but my suggestion is to get one that feels good to around the green.  Here is where you will save many shots as you learn the game.  Be careful buying reconditioned balls as there performance is sometimes erratic.(lying in the water for months can do that)  Both of your choices are good golf balls, as you play you will find which ball performs better for you.

  8. try the nike! platinum, black, one or the soft power long distance which are in the red box or the distance control in the green box, and their cheap. good luck. hey or even try bridgestone 330,e5 and e6

  9. i dont think there's much difference in them--just make sure you get the right compression for your swing--they make a-----80-90-and 100--i suggest a 90--the 100 is like hitting a rock and better players play with it.  i havent played in a long time so talk to the pro where you play and get his advice

  10. idk kno these particulars but for beggining go for the one that specializes in distance b/c u mostl likely cant spin it for spin specailized ones

  11. do not DO IT TRUST ME IT'S g*y

  12. If you're truly just starting playing golf, the ball you want is the CHEAPEST, because you'll go through a lot of them.

  13. well theres a expenssive ball if you go to ***** sportinggoods theres a ball called NIKE ONE  or NIKE JUICE

  14. You need a basic two piece ball so don't go for all the pro v 1 s they won't work as well for you as an NXT, Bridgestone E5 or E6 or Callaway. Personally I would go with the E5's they look sweet and are only 18.99 a dozen

  15. I agree with answer guy,the second answer on here. If you want a brand name ball, check out some of the stores like target that sell recycled golf balls. They are balls that have been found in lakes or ponds or just laying around and are resold at over half the price as new ones.

Have fun, golf is a great game. Just practice and remember that over 80% of all golfer shoot over 100 so do not get discouraged.

  16. I would suggest "Flyrites" they have worked for me..

  17. If you're really a beginner, the last thing you need to worry about is the ball. Spend as little as possible, and spend the rest on golf lessons. You'll be thankful later.

  18. You will be able to tell the difference.  Buy the ball with the least spin as possible.  Usually contol balls are better.  For a beginner you don't need the best balls, but if you buy one with a low spin, your hooks and slices (spins that make the ball cut in different directions) won't be as damaging to your game.

Balls that are optimized for spin, or even distance optimized balls may change directions in the air if your swing isn't perfect.
