Let supose than an Aircraft is on its final aproach and sudenly at that point an earthquake acours. Will this earthquake affect its landing ?

  1. No.  Not at all.


  2. Probably damage the landing gear if there cracks.

On final approach the Pilots probably would not recognize the earthquake, as it would have no effect on the aircraft.  If they were final approaching into a controlled airport, and good controller would alert them to the situation so that they could do a go around, or land elsewhere depending on damage to the runway.

    On landing while there is an earthquake, it would depend a lot on the type of plane and the severeness of the quake.  It would be very possible though.  Unnerving for the pilots but possible.

  4. Unless the runway is damaged, the approach and landing will not be affected. After shocks may shake the aircraft once it is on the ground.

  6. depends on the time of impact and the severity of the quake i would think  if they land while it is occurring the landing gear may get rocked and could possibly require a hard landing inspection. i think the worse case scenario would be if they were already down and applying the brakes they would get sent shaking and rumbling down the landing strip not sure if the antiskid could help much in that situation
