  1. I would start with a 400cc street bike. It's not so big that you wouldn't be able to control it and you will be able to learn how to ride safely. Once you understand how a motorcycle acts, then you can go to the crotch rocket.

I've owned a number of bikes in my life and know that first time riders frequently have a crash or two before they learn that a motorcycle is not bicycle...

  2. you are going to flip out when you see how much the insurance costs for a 1000cc crotch rocket

    ha ha ha ha ha

  3. You are looking for a funeral - your own.

Start slow (small) and have some fun.  Don't get intimidated by your own big engine bike.

I've owned 3 bikes (400, then 700, then 500 cc).  A 1000 cc is really fast and large bike.  Too much for a first time rider.

I've been riding since 1982.  I still ride because I don't try to kill myself every time I get out.  Most of my friends already gave up riding because they wrecked their bikes the first season.

    Good Luck...

  4. I been riding for 8 years now. I have been in 4 wrecks. 1 was because I was stunting but the other 3 were because of drivers on the road, 1 of those being an inexperienced rider that was tailgating me and couldnt stop in time. Both my forearms are covered in road rash scars. But I will probably ride till my death, because I love it. Just be extra careful when riding. And hope when you go down, and you will, that its not to bad. Always wear your helmet and gear.

As for what bike you get, for your height I would buy an R1 or other 1000cc. First you dont want to look like a clown on a little bike and 2nd you will pick up the basics pretty quickly. Just remember to be extra cautious and extra safe. Take it slow for the 1st year. Dont try to impress everyone else. Just go at you own pace.  Goodluck. s8 rider.

  5. Dont listen to these squids, I recommend you get a Hyabusa or zx-14r, both great beginner bikes! Also, dont wear gear, wear shorts and flip flops to optimize airflow!

  6. Your height and weight make no difference unless they are extreme, which yours aren't. Start with a small bike – below 600cc – learn and progress onto a larger bike, even a 250 will happily propel you to legal speed limits and you can learn how to ride without being intimidated.

You will wince at insurance quotes for a bike you cannot hope to control or even get close to using properly, you will also be staggered by the cost of parts.

  7. buy cool bike

  8. Well well, Crotch Rocket IM me and we will talk :)

  9. Get a big one email me and so you can put me on your life insurance.

  10. I will look for you in the obituaries.

  11. you DRIVE a car and RIDE bike.

  12. I would suggest the cbr600rr it has a better fit for taller guys and a 1000 is more money for more power that you will never need
