  1. Don't believe the marketing hype!

There are many good kites you can buy for $400. Perfect for learning and getting you first kiteboarding highs!

    Just remember:

    - Make sure you are buying the kite "complete" (with the bar)

    - As a beginner you must buy a 5 liner, NOT a 4 liner (for security and relaunch). Ideally you could try to find a "bow" or "flat" kite, but it is probably outside your budget.

    - If you want cheap, go for a BEST kite, such as a Yarga or Nemesis 05 or 06. You might even find a "flat" 2006 Waroo.

    - If you want a big choice, go for a big brand, a North Vegas 06 or a Rhino 05 which is one of the best kite ever; you can progress on it for ages...

    - Check the Forums they usually have "ads" sections: kiteforum.com, extremekites.co.uk, kiteboarder.co.uk, ikiteboarding.com, kite-surf.com...

    - I checked plysurf.com as they have a good search tool and found this great and cheap kite for you:

If you live in the US, buy a kite already in the US, it will be even cheaper (new kites are 20% cheaper than in Europe)

Well, I hope it helped and you'll soon be riding. Don't forget to rate my answer if you liked it.

  2. i doubt that you can actually get everything else for under 400 even going used.  most new kites alone cost over a grand.  spend a little extra money (like double what your thinking) and get a monkey kites griffin.
