  1. That is a nice camera for shooting wildlife with that big zoom lens. Proffesional photographers use DSLR type camera's, Thet are large and very expensive like $1200 and up. TTell us what type of pictures you want to take and you will get a more complete answer. Also your budget.

  2. professional-type???

not sure what youre after but the point and shoot in the link is not a pro camera. pros use DSLR cameras. canon and nikon make entry level models that range from $500-1000. If you really want to go pro expect to pay $5000 and up.

check out dslr reviews on canon and nikon at dpreview.com

  3. First, no camera takes "professional type" pictures.

A person skilled in the use of light, composition, f-stops, shutter speed and ISO takes "professional type" pictures.

"Pictures are not taken, they are made." Ansel Adams

That said, the Sony you show is what's known as a "bridge" camera - between a point and shoot and a DSLR. It is a good choice while you learn the basics of photography - light, composition, shutter speeds, ISO and f-stops.

Your local library should have a selection of books on photography. I suggest finding one or two that really cover the basics. While you're at the library, look at the photography magazines they subscribe to. If one really appeals to you then subscribe to it. My personal favorite is Shutterbug Magazine.

These books would be worth buying, IMO - "How Digital Photography Works, Second Edition" by Ron White and "Hands-On Digital Photography" by George Schaub.

The Owner's Manual for your camera will also contain a lot of useful information. Read and study it until you know every feature and setting on your camera and how, when and why to use them.

Simply buying a camera like the Sony you show will not make you a better photographer. Neither will buying a Nikon D3 or Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III.

Good luck and enjoy your new camera.
