Im looking for a flight to townsville..?

I want to fly to townsville from Sydney on the 14th of august one way. I would like a direct flight there and one that leaves in the afternoon, but I cant seem to find one.. im curious to see if you can?

hmm...im having a look at all of the airlines websites.

Qantas told me to go to the Jetstar website...

there is a Virgin Blue flight that departs at 11am and arrives at 1.50 in the afternoon. its $209 if you booked it now.

jetstar only have an early morning flight (6.20am) at $129.

tiger airways dont fly from sydney.

so your only real option is virgin blue. you can also connect in Brisbane as they have plenty of afternoon flights into townsville.

Only JetStar or Virgin Blue fly direct to Townsville from Sydney.

JetStar's quoting $129 ... but it leaves at 20 to 7 in the morning.

Virgin Blue's quoting $209 ... but it leaves at 5 past 11 in the morning.

No afternoon flights with either airline... unless you want to fly via another airport (ie Brisbane), in which case Virgin Blue can get you to Townsville on a flight that leaves at 20 past 2 in the afternoon.  However, the airfare is $155; which doesn't include the Sydney > Brisbane leg.

So your choice is fly in the morning ... at a much reduced price.

Or find a connecting flight out of Brisbane, and pay for two different legs.

Personally, I'd take the JetStar flight.  At least you get to Townsville and have the whole day there (practically).

A good site (IMO) is bestflights.com.au  They compare all the airlines.  Unlike webjet; which (for some obscure reason) doesn't suggest JetStar flights.  bestflights saves on bouncing between three different internet sites; and it's Australian-based (located in Perth).  I've booked with them in the past, and can highly recommend them as a "safe" online booking site.
