I would like a college out west, not in kanasas, florida, and california, Im not a big fan of those hot places. I would like to learn how to train a horse, learn about breeding, shoeing, and maybe massaging. My college i would like to take my own horse to and the disciplines include, barrel racing, pole bending western pleasure, reining, cutting, english show, halter, and some other disiplines. They all dont have to be together. I would also be able to go to shows. Thank you for taking your time out to read this. Have a good day.Thank you.

  1. in pa:

del valley(it's like heaven on earth if you want to take you're horse to college there)

penn state main campus(i dont believe that they have a specific program like del valley, but they do have stables and a huge ag science program)

ohio state: i dunno for sure much bout their program other then it's really great for horses, they have huge vet barns, and they're really nice there, (saved mah horse's life).

if i knew how to spell the name correctly, dont laugh i'm gonna try it, its auttobine (my best guess, i suck at spelling) college in ohio is another one decicated to riding (i bought one of my horses from them). it's also in ohio and a really nice riding program.

but my first choice would be del valley to check out.

those are the ones in mah area that i know alittle about.

  2. www.frc.edu (they have a equine center and rodeo team) ok so I know you said not california, have you ever visited CA? Well anyway there are mountains and coasts. Look at that website it is a college in the mountains where it is really nice in the summer and snows in the winter. Or there is Cal Poly Equine and rodeo team) San Luis Obispo which is on the coast and stays cooler in the summer. Its not like desert all over CA. It snows here. Oh and its not humid like Florida so the dry heat is way better. You could go to Colorado State (equine and rodeo team). I hear its nice there. Lots of snow in the winter time. ANyway good luck finding one. Theres lots too choose from even in Montana and such

Look at this google site I just typed in equine colleges

    http://www.google.com/custom?hl=en&safe=...

  3. Too bad you don't want to go to California - University of California at Fresno has a great equine program and you can keep your horse at school! Fresno is only miserable in the summer months - Spring, Winter, Fall is nice. They also have an equestrian team although I have been given the impression that you have to be from the coache's own training barn to be allowed to ride. She has a reputation for playing favorites with her personal students.

  4. california is not hot at all i live here the east coast is so much more hotter and humid, ca is like really cold in the winter and it han't gotten hot yet like it normally does in the summer so i think you should go to davis ca, it isn't hot at all

  5. Meredith Manor sounds like a perfect college for you but it is in West Virginia

  6. I believe Findlay in Ohio has a program like that.  I would check out their website.

Otherwise, you might just want to look at schools with a good equine program that also has nearby horse boarding.  A lot of large universities will also have an equestrian team (University of IL, Kansas, Texas A&M, etc all have judging, equestrian teams, etc).  If you end up having to board your horse off campus, maybe you can find a barn that shows, and you can work out hauling.

    Good luck!
