Im looking for a luxurious (but decently priced) hotel in new orleans that offers free parking?

I'm sorry... I've looked into this a lot, and I have never found a decent hotel in New Orleans that offers free parking. The only hotel I've stayed at there that had free parking was, uh... in let's say, a less than desirable area.

Please call the Chamber of Commerce  & request a Visitor's Packet for a vacationer. They'd be more than happy to do this for you.

The only hotel I know of in downtown New Orleans (incl. the French Quarter) is the Hotel Villa Convento (www.villaconvento.com).  It is a nice hotel but probably does not quite qualify as "luxurious".  

Realize that you don't need a car to get around in the French Quarter, Central Business District, and Warehouse District (marketed by the city as the "Arts and Museum District).  If you drive to Nerw Orleans or rent a car you should park your vehicle in a lot and leave it there unless traveling away from downtown.  There are lots of taxicabs and the Regional Transit Aurthority sells day & multi-day passes for buses and streetcars (www.norta.com).

The least expensive parking option downtown is at the AmTrak/Greyhound station, which is $4.00 per 24 hours.  The lot has a 24/7 human attendent and is a long walk or shor taxi ride from all of the city center.

St. Vincent's Orphanage, part of the Prytania Inns.

[phone]  Stayed there twice while moving to the city over 10 years ago.  I believe the rates are still close to what they were, which was about $60 per night, free parking in a large gated parking lot.  Nice area uptown New Orleans, about 7 mins from the French Quarter.

Last time I was there, it included a nice southern breakfast every morning too.

Really nice digs, clean, and they have an in ground pool in the private courtyard.
