Check with www.hrs.de, and enter under city "10117", the zip code for Berlin Mitte. There are quite a few hotels in that area, not necessarily low priced. You can also check hotels in the surrounding areas, which should be more reasonable, providing you are not travelling during the soccer games in June/July.

Stay in Friedrichshain, it is cheaper. There are lots of hotels but the world cup is starting on June 9th so hurry up and reserve somewhere! I can't recommend a specific hotel.
