Im looking for my adopted daughter DOB 03/04/1989 She was born in Bridgeton, NJ, but was adopted from an agency office out of Wynnewood, PA. I believe she is in PA..ANY help..ANYONEI feel really trapped because, I want to find her. It was an open adoption but as a birthmother I am not entitled to any info. She would have to contact them. I don't even know, if she knows she is adopted. Thanks

  1. Your daughter is an adult, so she doesn't need her adoptive parents' permission to have contact with you, nor do you need their permission to make contact with her.

Since it was an open adoption, it seems that you would know their names as well as her name.

I do know of one situation where the adoptive parents didn't keep their end of the deal and actually gave the first mother their middle names as their first names, along with a bogus first name for the child, so as to throw her off.  She ended up finding anyway, so keep an open mind about first names.

Any of the social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace, previously mentioned, would be a good place to look.  Zabasearch.com, Intelius.com are also good places to search for someone.  Intelius charges a very nominal fee, between $3-ish to $7-ish dollars for a basic search.

  2. I was confused too when I saw your question.

In open adoption you should have had some sort of contact or info. Perhaps you could contact the agency to see if she has contacted them. Otherwise you could try putting your info in some registries so that she could find you.

    Good Luck

ETA: I'm very sorry to hear that. She's an adult now so hopefully the two of you will find each other.

ETA: Thank goodness for that DOB...now that's something that cannot be hidden or taken away from you.  Best wishes.

  3. It must be hard to be a birth mother. I am adopted myself and my birthmother moved and never told the agency where so I have no idea were she is. try to go to the police and serch what ever info you have. Best of luck your in my prayers!

  4. Start by tracking down everyone with the last name of the a-parents. Hire a private detective that specializes in adoption/divorce cases.

Edit: Maybe you could have a friend get a job at the agency that did the facilitation and she/he could dig through files to find the records or payoff someone that currently works there for information.

  5. I'm sort of confused.

If it was an open adoption, don't you know her name?  She's also an adult, so you do not have to go through her adoptive parents.

    Have you checked myspace.com, facebook.com?
