Im looking to buy a good cheap sports car?

im 17 turning 18 soon and im buying my first car!yay xD. i wiissh that i could afford something like a mazdaspeed3 lol but my mom just doesnt agree with 20 grand right now!! so i was thinking i could get suggestions of cars similar to that but more in the 15,000 and LoWeR, in the 2000's i hope please :D.btw im paying for myself i make about $500 a month now so any advice would be greeat :D.i got $2000 saved up right now so yup thanks all!

How about something like a 2003 MazdaSpeed Protege' or an older Honda Civic Si?  

The MS Protege' isn't the same car as the MS3, but it is a very gutsy,  reliable car with all of the functionality.  It was also made in limited production, so you won't have something that everyone else has.

Plus, Insurance would probably be more reasonable than something like a Mustang.

You can find a good MS Protege for well under $15K.

If you are paying for yourself and money seems to be an issue, please:

Pay yourself first.  Since you have earned income you can start a small investment pay.  You need to consider this for your future.

As to a car, there are only 4 cars made in the world that I would recommend for a kid in your situation:

-a Honda Civic or Accord, and

-a Toyota Corolla or Camry.

Anything else may turn into a money pit.

get an e46 bmw. If you're buying your first car, then you'll want something with a smaller motor so go with the 325.

TRUST ME. you will kill yourself if you get anything bigger. The 325 will smoke any mustang out there, and handles turns better than ANY other affordable sports car. I had a bmw for my first car, and it was definately the best car for me. I would be dead if it hadnt been for the bmw's high tech suspension and such. Seriously, don;t get a mazda. I've raced one through the hills and saw it almost slide off the road on several occasions, my bmw on the other hand could take the turns faster without any slippage. It also has a unibody design which gives you better safety, and a stiffer car.

PLUS it's a bmw! look on craigslist for a 2001 or smething. They're awesome cars. attract the women more than a measly mazda. aaand they last way longer than a mazda too!
