which one is better?

any recommendations?

i want a camera that parts (such as lenses) will be easy to find.

  1. Both are about the same.  The XSi is newer and has a few features that I would prefer over the XTi such as spot metering. But for the budget conscience consumer, the XTi is a great camera.  Especially if you don't know how to use the camera in a full manual mode.  Use the money you save by buying the XTi and get a basic telephoto like the 70-300 or 55-250 and the 50mm f/1.8 prime for decent low light shooting and consider taking an intro photography class through a local school for some Continuing Education Units.

    Both will have parts that will be easy to find.  They both use the same lenses.  (EF and EF-S)  You'll appreciate this when you decide to upgrade your camera body in the future.  However, accessories like the a battery grip may change.  In the Rebel line, Canon doesn't try to keep it so that accessories like batteries and battery grips are necessarily compatible with the next release.
