  1. im gonna get my first bike to. from what i learned it doesnt really matter what size you got to start on. because ur most likly not gonna pin it the first time ur on it. be reasonable on any bike for that matter and get used to the power.

  2. most people say start on a 250cc. i think that's c**p b/c after riding one for about 2 weeks you'll get comfortable on it and wish you had something with more power.

i'd say at least a 600cc. if you want sportier, standard bikes are nice but i would recommend a real sport bike over one b/c of performance and standard bikes being a lot more top heavy and easy to tip over with slow maneuvering. i own a suzuki gixxer 750 and will never want anything else. most people when they get a 600 want something with more power later on, and people that get 1000 usually wish they got something that they can throw around easier. thus the 750 being the best of both worlds. but really go sit on some and see what you like.

  3. A 600cc 4 cyl. sport bike is not a good idea. Actually one of my fav bikes, the Suzuki SV650 is more than you need. But it costs a lot of money to trade up so if you get something as potent as a SV650 or a Katana or a Ninja 650 for goodness sakes don't go out and high side on the first corner you come too.

Buy a helmet, gloves, a jacket and boots. Talk to your insurance man FIRST, before you buy. It is expensive for a  sport bike esp full coverage.

  4. yamaha sold many 600's they are good bike r6 it will be fast for now and if you want more later you can go up to 1000 cc bike. from my experience it really does not matter how big the bike is your probably gonna respect it and the power. even a little 400 can really hurt you and you know that so just get the bike you want. you will learn how to ride it quickly and you wont have any regrets about not getting the one you wanted. most of the sport bikes re made by the top four manufacturers. yamaha kawi suzuki and honda. not much difference. but there are also buells a harley rocket that is awesome. a torque monster that is considered a wheelie king.

  5. Feeling like a broken record here, but get a used Ninja 250. Save the bucks for your dream bike after you learn to ride. The 250 is cheap, tons of them around, and the insurance should be relatively low for a new rider. Since it has been redesigned for 2008, you should be able to get an older one for less than 2000. Agree with the first poster who advised against the SV and Ninja 650's as first bikes. You need to learn throttle control first before taking on something with more power. Another poster said you should forget the 250 because you will get use to it too quickly. The great thing about the Ninja 250 is that it is very popular because of the cost of fuel and even if you do get tired of it in a couple of months you will be able to sell it for what you paid for it.
