  1. Well, Fender has a nice little starter set featuring a little amp & one of their more economical 6 strings for around $269.00, but if you seriously have doubts whether or not this is a lasting passion, I'd just get him a First Act from Wal-Marts.

  2. Go to your local music store.  A number of brands have beginners sets.  For example, Epiphone has a package with an electric guitar, case and a small Peavy amp.

  3. I've been playing guitar for about 5 years now.

Well...you actually are supposed to start on an acoustic guitar, not an electric. Also, if its a package and an amp is included, no you wont be losing TO much. If an amp isn't included, keep looking, especially if he he is a beginner. If he's been playing for awhile and seems to like it, it's a good deal. If he does quit playing, try selling it, if its still in good condition, you can get most of your money back.

However, any guitar package under $250 is a good deal to me.

    Hope I helped! :]

  4. Wal - Mart. They have a guitar and small amp for 100-120 dollars maybe cheaper.
