  1. Ok, first of all, DONT go to circuit city. If you dont know much about car audio, a lot of the options there could seem very good because they're shiny and have lights, when in fact they're not good at all. I would suggest going to sonicelectronix.com, where they have pretty cheap car audio stuff, at least the cheapest that ive been able to find. Look into Kicker subs and Hifonics amps. Hifonics is a very reputable company, Kicker is too. It depends on how loud you want your system. You CAN find a very nice one for 400. Do your research on wiring the amp and what kind of wire you need. A good website for this kind of stuff is the12volt.com.

  2. Yo man, listen if you want a system that bumbs, go out but some nice subs, depending on the space, get the biggest that'll fit. Crutchfield has/d a special on 10" kicker sub's buy one get one free for $99.Or get twelves that hit solid will cost between 125-200, i got two 12" infinity's 1252w each with 300w. rms, for 184 dollars on e-bay. Next go out find a big boyz amp. I'm sayin at least 1600w two channel amp. My first set up had a 1600w vizonik amp it hit nice amp cost me $80 dollars at a pawn shop. Next, get a box to put them, you can get some for as cheap as $50 That's $300 (aprx), next get a cheap deck to replace your stock deck, unless you have one already. I started with the oldest CD deck ever a Clarion that was as old as me. A Deck can run you how much you want to spend, h**l you have $90 to work with I'd go with a Alpine, or kenwood both make a solid $70 model that's legit, but the last part is just go get a standard wiring kit, and it'll cost $10 tops, and thats if you get the good wiring. Now if you have the chops try to install it yourself, it's a pain and not worth the hassel, but I did my first system myself, had no idea what i was doing, and got it to work and installed everything after two days of trial and error, and now i'm hooked. It's a great feeling when you'll get it kickin' and bumbin' best investment you'll make. Good luck hope it helps.

  3. I would suggest going to circuit city and picking up a sub and amp combo, then going to a local audio shop and buying a wiring kit, then have a friend hook it up for you. Circuit city has some good deals  on combo packages and wiring kits are dirt cheap at small time audio shops. And whatever you do don't get your sound system installed at circuit city, they do half butt jobs like wiring your amp to your cigarette lighter.

  4. lets give this guy some Real Info....

    Koanaihe got the right idea.

Circut City has good deals and you can bet that if a sub blows out 6 months later, it will be replaced at $0.  Try getting some dude on the internet to give you service after they got your money.  Not.

400 is a reasonable price to get a sub/box and amp.

Your local stereo shop is all over that kind of job and price. (go to visit at least 3 shops)

I personally would get 2 Kicker Comp 12" (C.City got a buy 1 get 1 free deal so $99 for both) and a kicker 300.1 Monoblock Amp (149)  from circut city

take it to a stereo shop and pay $40 for box and $80 to install

Total including install and tax is under $400
