  1. £50 -60 well you get what you pay for.

  2. I'm afraid £60 is too low for a new bike. Any new bike normally sold at that price will be so badly made that it will be difficult to ride, will keep breaking down and will not last long.

(To put it in context, many commuter cyclists who need their machines to be reliable will spend more than that on a pair of puncture-resistant tyres).

Unless you can spend more, you need to look for second-hand bikes or for nornally higher-priced bikes going at a big discount.

Are you sure you want a mountain bike? Are you really going to do a lot of rough-surface riding? If not then a hybrid or a roadster will be a better choice. Mountain bikes are designed for rough surfaces and so they are not really efficient when used on a hard smooth surface.

  4. The cheapest place is the Police Bumblebee auctions.  Every year, hundreds of bikes are stolen.  Many are later recovered by the police but not claimed.  The Police then auction them off online.  I don't know where you're based, but £18 will buy you a Stealth Dual Suspension DuoTech Mantrax 312 bike in Harrogate, while £8.50 will get you a Diamond Back in Littlehampton (prices correct at 15:45 BST 19th May).  Don't buy a cheapy thing from Halfords - you'll regret it.  I've had two bikes from Bumblebee and they were both great.

  5. www.factorydirectbikes.com

  6. If you want to get a good bicycle for that  sort of budget, new is not an option. A new bicycle for that price will probably break after seventy miles. Go on www.gumtree.com and look there -  you will find some good bicycles.

  7. You wont get much for £60 if your not looking at spending much then dont get a full suspension bike. Because they are heavier and use cheap parts to cut the costs. You need to spend more money.

If you are not sure that you will enjoy it then hire or borrow a decent bike first.

There are loads of good routes here to ride :-)

  8. Harfords.

Halfords, we got one of these for our son for christmas , now we bought tow more, they are absloutely brilliant.

  10. wal mart

  11. I know it may not be possible but you should maybe up your budget. People buy really cheap bikes because they're are afraid they won't really enjoy it and end up not enjoying it because they've got a really cheap bike. I would suggest going to an independant shop but I think you would be better off going to Halfords and talking to them about your needs

  12. That is an awful low amount of money to get a bike, but as long as it rolls forward then it will get you around.  I think you could get the best bikes for that price off of Ebay or a garage sale.

  13. I see that the eBay store below has quite a selection with a broad price range - you might give that a try.
