Well you should take him/her to Canada because 4 year olds don't remember much so when your child is older then they can say "I remember when we went to ____ and saw.....and.......and......ect"

pick somewhere that is a short flight especially if it is for the first time benidorm and majorca are great places for kids

mine are all grown up now, have a look on the net if there is a french or spanish equivalent of Butlins

that's all I can offer, I go to Philippines, great for adults, accomodation about £3 per night, you have to make the entertainment for kids,,, ooh an the swimming pools are outdoors in the sun, water is changed daily by spring water, so its cool water, will cost you about £380 to fly there, so whole holiday around £1,000, you get great tan. Thailand cooler now (hottest there is April) check lonely planet website first

go to the costa brava i have just come back from sant susanna and malgrat de mar the beach is fantastic and there are loads of shops
