  1. Well it is the measurment of the board. The measurement of the board is most likely on the bottom of the board near the middle.

A measurement on the bottom usually reads something like:

    A'B" x C" x D"

A'=  The lenth of the board in terms of full feet. ex. 8' Meaning 8 feet long

B"= The lenth of the board in Inches left. ex.  8'  4"  Meaning the board is 8 feet and 4 inches long.

C"=  Is the measurement of the widest part of the board. Measured in in inches(").     23"

D"=  Is the thickness of the board. Most of the time it is the thickest part of the board. Also in inches(").   2 1/2" thick.

  2. 7'3" is 7 feet, 3 inches.

    9' is 9 feet, and that's roughly 3 meters.

Talk to the people at a local surf shop.  They will help you find out what you need, and put you with the right style of board.
