Question:

Im majoring in criminal justice?

However I don't want to attend the police academy after my four year degree at college... Are there any possiable job choices I can choose with this major that dont require me going into the academy...?

  1. A jail shrink and maybe a probation officer( only 4 week course)


  2. .   I think you can sneak in by being a deputy at the prison and transferring after 3 years of a good record on the job.  You will be a real police officer at the prison; not a guard.

  3. Criminal justice majors are great for Probation or Parole jobs.  In CA, you need a 4 year degree to be a PO and a Parole Agent.  A CJ degree is also good if you want to be a criminal lawyer (on either side), a Judge, and things of that nature.  You can go into any aspect of law enforcement with a CJ degree too...criminal psychologist, forensics, evidence technician, etc.  You might need more schooling after college but it will prepare you for any law enforcement career, not just a police job.
