  1. Well saying that they are very easy to take care of is a good option. They p**p is small and odorless and easy to pick up. They don't need much attention if they have another bird in the cage, but make sure they get along. Clipping their wings will prevent them from flying around everywhere and they aren't loud.

And i can't help with the names, I have a green and yellow one named shrek, and a white and blue one named lola. If its green then shrek is a cute name =P

Wait until you get them, their personalities can give you ideas, and someday you will figure something out.

  2. As a parent if mum and dad say no at first don,t give up.

What they are probably more worried about is that this is not just a passing "phase", for want of a better word.

Keep at it and keep reminding them you want one. Just remember it is YOUR pet so YOU look after it. My kids did this with a pet rabbit and guess who ended up looking after it.

Not them. I gave it away. never had that problem after that. They looked after their pets themselves after that. We bought the food and vet bills etc quite happily because they were looking after them.

Good luck and just keep at it.

  3. First, be honest and figure out if you have time (daily) to clean the cage, change the water and play with your budgie, and feed it. Sum up all the reasons you would like a budgie. They can live up to fifteen years or even more so this is a big responsiblity.

Let your parents know that you understand this specific bird's needs such as a good diet and you know what to feed it (pellets, a small bit of seeds, greens, legumes, veggies, etc.).

Explain how you will make sure the bird is well cared for and you have money to take your bird into the vet for checkups and emergencies. Tell them how you have planned to buy and maintain toys, perches, and other necessary items that need to be changed regularly.

Let them know that you understand this small bird's environment is very important- they need 10 hours of sleep each night, should be on a regular schedule, they are very sensitive to chemicals (paint, hair spray, nail polish, candles, and many more things) and you will make sure these are not around to harm your bird.

You also need to let your parents know you will need a proper size age (at least 16 inches across by 18 inches long by 24 inches high- with no bigger than 1/2 inch bar spacing.).

Go to websites that discuss birds (Tailfeathers (www.tailfeathersnetwork.com) is a good one) and read all you can about budgies and their needs and behavior. Let them know you have learned how to handle the bird properly and will make sure the bird gets baths or water spritzs, their nails trimmed and if desired, their wings clipped.

If you really think you can do all of these things and show them how much you have researched before jumping into this decision, this should prove you are serious and it might make them believe you really want and will provide for this bird.

  4. Budgies are great pets.

I've got to warn you though they are messy eaters, and if you've never had a bird before they are good for beginners and tell them that it builds character and responsibilities
