I will be paid weekly and want the most back each week but I do not want to end up paying the IRS at tax time. How many should I claim?

  1. Claim 0... both of you. When you file taxes you will get money back... the only problem with that is the government gets to use your money for free.

  2. If your spouse doesn't work outside the home and the child is under age 17 as of the end of 2008, you can claim up to 6 allowances.  If your spouse works, and the child is under 17, split 5 total between you.

  3. Always take fewer allowances than permitted if you don't want to pay at tax time.

Suggest you take only 1 or 2, not claiming allowance for baby

Depends on your tax situation, and not enough info
