If you really want to get fun, and you are adventurous you must go to Tavarúa in San Pedro, of course, GO WITH YOUR FRIEND!!! because is kind of unsafe, but if you play-it-safe, there is a lot of bars in Santa Ana or Ezcazu but they are really expensive.

In San Jose is not very safe for turist just be careful but you could visit the CARIARI safe and elegent .... Good luck and have fun

Stick with one of the classier hotels and stay safe.  Decent taxidrivers are always a good source for this info.
