Moving in may take a few days to get everying in order, and the chaos may be too overwhelming for my 11 month old. She is walking and moving around, so I think having boxes and junk everywhere would also be dangerous.

My parents and in laws are offering to watch her until we get settled. My problem with that is, my baby will be 5 hours away for probably more then a week. I know they would take care of her, but she has never been away from us more then one night. We could make arrangements for things to be "tidy" in one room of the house for the baby to play in, but it would be so much easier and faster if she wasnt there.

What would you do? Could you leave your baby that long? She is our first so Im very attached to her. Maybe if I had like 3 kids Id be glad to get a break for a week.

  1. I definitely would not leave my baby alone for a week with anybody.

  2. i think a good idea would be to bring your mom or his mom with you guys to keep an eye on baby and keep her occupied so you and your husband can get stuff done.

  3. I would take her with us.  I would just make sure that her room was pretty cleaned up.  That or I would just use a playpen/gate to keep her in an area that was clean.  Thats just me though.

  4. if it was me, i would ask them to take her for a day or two just while you get everything moved into the house and then go and get her.  As long as you have the big furniture in the right place when she gets there you can move the boxes around and keep them out of her way in another room if you feel it's too dangerous.

She's not going to mind the boxes (and she would rather be with you) Keeping an area clear for her to play like you suggested is a really good idea.  It'll probably be more overwhelming for her to be away from you for a week than having all those fun boxes to play with!

All the best with the move!
