  1. Are they ice hockey sticks? Check your pro shop, they should have a nylon stick bag with a zipper you can secure them in. If not, tape them together and check them in (you won't be allowed to carry them on board for security reasons)

If they're field hockey sticks I would assume it's the same procedure. (but I don't know about stick bags for field hockey sticks)

One way or another, several things to consider:

The financial value of the sticks in their current condition

How much will the airline charge you to ship them?

Are you moving to a place where you intend to keep playing?

If so, will you be able to find this stick, or something comparable, at a fair price?

  2. you know when you buy a fancy expensive dress at an expensive store? they sometimes can come with a bag for the dress (so the dress wont get wrinkled) you could maybe try to get one of those long bags (they might resemble a dry cleaning bag, but basically a long bag, made out of better material though, to protect dress) so get one of the long bags and see if your hockey stick fits.

if this doesnt help, or doesnt work, (maybe bag isnt big enough for stick) just call the airlines and ask them what to do, theyll definitly know.

    i recommend calling, good luck

  3. Why don't you sell them, and buy new sticks when you get to your new town.

  4. As long as they are in a case, you should be able to check them. Call the airline ahead of time and just ask them. If you are unsure that they will make it safely, you can have UPS, or DHL ship them anywhere in the world for you. You will have to box them up to protect them. Just get yourself some flat cardboard, and cut, fold, and tape a custom made box. I do it all the time at work when we ship something UPS that won't fit in a regular box. You can get flat cardboard at any appliance store. Just ask them for a big box that a refrigerator came shipped to them in. I am sure you can get it for free, too.

    Good luck!

    Steve.

  5. put them in your hockey bag, or try to fit them  vertically in another bag. You're not allowed to attach them to your suitcase, but you could probably carry them with you on the plane.

  6. I am presuming this is about field hockey.

    Ok:

Number 1: It sounds like you have a small basic hockey bag. One of the $15 bags.

Number 2: There is actually a wide variety of hockey bags and types that you can purchase from specialist stores and I think also stores like Rebel Sport.

Try having a looksy at this site:

    http://www.justhockey.com.au/index.php?a...

This specific page shows the actual hockey bags and their respective prices. They also give you a some extra information about each bag such as if it has wheels, or its a backpack bag etc.

To be honest, I own a version of the "Mazon Classic Combo Bag" (http://www.justhockey.com.au/index.php?a...

Which is quite simply a bag with a shoulder strap. I currently only have two hockey sticks in it, but I've seen mates of mine put 5 or 6 sticks into them. Please note though, that I actually have a newer model than what is shown on the website, and from what I remember, it is a big bigger in size than the model shown on the site.
