  1. The line it's self (the wire) could be only BT or Virgin Media. I thing this is what they are saying.

Who the phone is with could be BT or Sky etc if BT line (As sky etc will pay BT line rental). If virgin line - only be with vigin.

Ring BT and get the line changed to BT

  2. phone the post office they will reconnect and you wont be put on a contract. 0800 0920500. Say you are moving in and need the line connected. BT tie you in for a year.

  3. it dont matter just get bt to change it to them if u want bt

  4. so long as its not with VIrgin (cable line rather than normal phone line).  you can ask BT to take it back =

this is a marketing thing like changing gas supplier its stil the same line and BT exchange that does the work its the company that bills you thats changed.

You can ask BT to take the line BACK but ONLY when you have moved in ! you just give bt the address and they arrange for ti to be 'recovered'

  5. It doesn't matter who the line was with, just use the service provider you choose. This is because Openreach ( part of the BT Group ) now maintain the network, they are the ones that will be reconnecting your line. So if you choose to use BT, Tiscali, Talk Talk etc, you can. Just choose the service provider that can give you the services you require for the amount you wish to pay.
