  1. All cats are pretty low maintenance. The only ones that are a little higher, are the long haired varieties that require grooming to prevent matting.

Personally, I could care less about particular cat breeds. Both of mine are from the local animal rescue. :)

    Opt to adopt!

  2. Any cat you find at a shelter is a good breed; however, if you want a pedigreed cat allow me to suggest a Maine Coon, or a rag-doll. Both tend to be minimal maintains other than requiring lots of love time.

  3. A friendly adult short-haired cat from a local shelter.  Kittens are far more high maintenance than cats until they become adults.

Go to the shelter and pick the friendliest adult cat you can find.  You'll have a friend for life.

    You can look on www.petfinder.com

  4. short hair from the shelter

cats are not high maintenance. they take care of themselves. You should brush him/her to help get rid of excess hair to cut down on hairballs.

We have an auto-litter-box/auto-water dish/auto-feeder. It makes it easier. Loving him is also easy.

  5. probaby a short hair cat you can find one at any shelter

  6. a siamese

  7. I would say most cats are low maintenance. I have two Siamese and they are both divas who require constant attention. I've read that most Siamese cats are attention-hungry so I'd recommend staying away from them.

  8. A domestic shorthair is usually a good choice.  I assuming that you will be working or taking classes and will be gone during the day, so consider finding an older kitten or a young cat.  Much easier than the really young kitten, who does need to looked after quite a bit.  And, do consider two......so nice for them to have the company and twice the love and companionship for you.  One the best cats I have ever had was at least 5 when I adopted him and we had many, many good years together.

Adopting from a shelter is always a great option.  Some shelters are better than others, so do some checking.  Also, some vets do have available kittens and that's a really great way to adopt a kitten.

    Good Luck!
