My mom and I are moving to Calirfornia and the area we are moving to has earthquakes very often. If one occurs what should my mother and I do? I heard that you should go outside and just sit down on the grass or street until it ends and to stay out of your house until it ends. Is that true? if not what should we do then?

  1. no that is not true, at least i have never heard that...ever

as soon as you get 2 your new home, you should find a safe placee in your house where there is nothing on the walls and from there it should be safe

hope your new home is nice!

  2. you go to a doorway and put your hands against the  doorway things, i mean you grab on where the door connects to the wall, so basically you are in the doorway, act as if you are blocking it.

Also avoid things that might fall over such as TVs,pictures, or whatever that might fall over !

  3. You want to know about california just go here http://www.aaamoving-store.com/.

Here they are giving the details.

    Like   Alabama Movers,Alaska Movers,Arizona Movers,Arkansas Movers,California Movers,Colorado Movers,Connecticut Movers,Delaware Movers...etc...

You want to know more go and read you will get the idea what to do.

  4. Don't panic, 1st & foremost.  Look at USGS.gov & go to their seismic map.  California has thousands of tremors per yr & you won't feel most of them.  You have probably been through an earthquake already & never even realized it.  In many parts of the country, such as MO, OH, etc., your Mom can get earthquake insurance on  her homeowners policy & be nowhere near an active fault zone, like CA.

If a stronger one hits (one that knocks stuff off walls & shelves), stay in place & get underneath a sturdy table or into the doorway of a room til the shaking stops, usually a few seconds to a minute.  Know where all utility shut offs are, so after the shaking stops, you can minimize any damage by shutting water, gas, & electricity off til they can be assessed.  Stay away from any power lines, etc.   Get out of the house if you are in any danger, such as broken floors/foundation, leaking gas line, etc.  Check out the red cross or the local emergency management websites for more information.

  5. Learn the basics, and enjoy them, I live in Colima, México with many earthquakes and a very active volcano 18 miles away, it is fun!
