On a 1986 Chevy Monte Carlo it is now considered a classic because its over 20 years old and kelley blue book only goes to 1988

I would not use any blue book type ratings. Find similar cars on cars.com, autotrader.com, or some other web site for classic cars.

Some used car lots that carry older cars will allow you to put it on the lot on a consignment basis. And they will have a good estimate of the actual value.
