Im new to ebay and want to know when I put a bid in it comes up straight away that someone has out bidded me?

Im sure they wouldn't have had time to place a bid as the bid was $49 and I put in $51 and it said I was out bidded straight away..

When bidding on Ebay, you should enter in the HIGHEST amount of money that you WOULD pay for the item. The person who outbid you had set his/her bid to a higher amount & it automatically rules out your bid.

It never use to work that way :( But it does now.

You can put in what your maximum bid is and eBay does the bidding automatically for you up to the maximum, putting the bids in at the stated increments.
