How can I Overcome my fear of hitting people, and get used to hitting people? is there anything I can do? Im one of the only first years on my team, and our coach never lets us hit in practice.

How can I prepare and overcome my fear of hitting people? I played in a game and I was kind of scared of making the tackles. Although I tackled one guy without thinking about it.... the other guys im a little hesitant

  1. Aggression is a must have in football, some people have it, some dont. But when someone is running at you full speed your instincts take over as you know... One thing you should know is that it hurts a lot more to take a hit than to give a hit. You should should start with the fundamentals of hitting/tackling. Rule number 1 : ALWAYS stay low 2 : staying low puts you in position to put your head on the ball and to wrap the ball carrier up 3 : use your hips! run through the muthafucka! do it a few times and the ball carrier will start to think twicev about coming your way. Talk to your coach, you might feel stupid but thats what hes there for...to make you better. Hope this helps!

  2. coming from a guy who plays varsity football its not all that bad when u have your pads and helmet on u dont feel any thing trust me youll get right back on the only place youll probably get hurt is if u get tackled on your legs dnt worry bout others they wont hurt either its a good sport for people with anger problems or who just want to release your making it waay to complicated

  3. in addition to what Joe said ^^ rule 1 is not stay low, rule 1 is keep your head up or you can get paralysed. Always keep your head up, if you cant see what you're hitting you're gonna get hurt, badly.
