I know dependant people don't recieve a stimulus check. Will the money be in my parents check instead.? I know for an absolute fact that people on social security will recieve a stimulus check. So I should have one coming but with me being a dependant I think im beat. Unless in comes in my parents check thats fine. Does anyone know if it will or not?

  1. SSI is NOT the same as social security. Social security is qualifying income for the stimulus program since people get SS because they worked enough to qualify for it.  SSI is NOT qualifying income for the stimulus payment.  So no, under no circumstances would you have a stimulus check coming.

Since you are a dependent, you wouldn't get one even if you DID have enough qualifying income.  If you are under age 17 as of the end of 2007, then your parents would get an extra $300 for supporting you - if you are 17 or over, they don't.  Even if they do, that money is theirs, not yours.
