I attend a community college and all my classes will be basically payed for the week b4 school starts via scholarships (their paying for everything plus books but i really need extra money (badly) so i'm taking out a few extra dollars via Stafford loan... one of the documents says- will you be receiving any aid in the 2008-2009 school year?-..the answer is yes "i think" because of the scholarship...but the loan packets will be processed wayyyyy before my scholarship is in effect....what could i do to maximize my amount???

oh and im a second year and the amount is subsidized/unsubsidized:$4500

additional unsubsidized:$2000-$6000

  1. Rather than taking out a loan, I suggest you get a job.  I know it's tough, I worked all through college too.

The answer to the question is yes you are receiving financial aid.  That will not affect the amount of loan you are eligible for.

  2. You will have to ask your  school's financial aid department, they will have someone to help you at the community college you are attending. They can help you with that.

I was having the same problem except I paid my tuition with my own money and then I got the scholarship like a month later so for two semesters I didn't get my money refunded but recently I went back and show them proof that I paid it out of my pocket they refund my money, it took them a while, that didn't matter as long as I have my money refunded. No matter how long it takes as long as you've talked and ask someone for help I'm sure they will help you, all you got to do is ask them.

Make sure you keep record of your scholarship or loan letter. Having proof sometimes make things so much easier.

    Just organize your documents.

    Good luck!
