  1. where and how long are you going to be here. depends on the area there is no need for that.

  2. No shots are required or needed to come to Costa Rica.

  3. You dont need malaria tablets at all, Sometimes doctors scare you are tell you that you need an x number of shots just to bill you later with a huge amount of money. Just to be sure I would check about yellow fever, especially if you are travelling to jungles but even so, there are some jungles in latin America where you dont need the yellow fever vaccine and some that you need. Why dont you go staright to the source and ask the Costa Rican consulte or embassy in your area? I would better check with them than with us in yahoo answers.

  4. Each time I go I get some anti-Malaria tablets (such as Mefloquine) just in case... you take 1 per week beginning the week before you go, and continue it until the forth week after you come home.

Honestly, I often stop taking it early, as the mosquito's have not been bad at all, even during rainy season... but it depends on exactly where you are going.

If you are allergic to foods or insect bites take an Epi-Pen with you... and make sure your standard shots (Tetanus, etc) are up to date.

    That is really it.

  5. I believe there is a health website you should refer to.  Contact your travel agent for details.

  6. The shots you need are the same shots you need in your country.  Just make sure your shots are up to date, according to your age.

You don't need to take malaria tablets, as malaria is not a concern in Costa Rica.

Dengue fever is a big concern.  Unfortunately, there is not shot for that.  The only preventive measure is to wear insect repellent.  Make sure to get one that has at least 23% DEET.  You can buy it at a pharmacy or at a supermarket in Costa Rica. Wear it at dawn and dusk if you go to coastal areas.

    Enjoy your trip!

  7. I know when i went to Costa about a year and a half ago, i only needed to get a Hepatitis A shot.  But right now its the rainy season there, so you are going to want to get malaria tablets, and you may want to ask your doctor if there are any preventive medicines for Dungee fever.  This kills more people in Costa Rica than Malaria.  Plus, you are going to want a very powerful bug repellent if you plan on going through the rainforests.  I know that anything with deet is good, but if your looking for something different, you can look for 100% lemongrass oil.  Other than that, i don't think you are going to need anything else.  Have fun, and make sure to visit Lago Arenal.

  8. You can travel safly, if needs to know more can contact me without problems.

  9. You don't need any shots.  All you need is a good insect repellent, and you can get it here! And you need it only if you are going to the beach or the rain forest, not in the city.

The dengue fever mosquito is commonly found in places like Limón, on the Atlantic or in some parts of Puntarenas or Guanacaste.  Just be careful if you are going to the beach, take your repellent and watch out for white striped legs mosquitoes!! (dengue)

You don't need to take malaria pills!
