My choices are either Madrid or Barcelona. Im going to be there for 8 days and would like to fly in to a place that allows me the freedom to check out other cities relatively quickly.

  1. If you want to travel around, Madrid is a lot better. There are plenty of interesting cities and places around Madrid, like Avila, Segovia,Toledo, Aranjuez, El Escorial, La Granja (Segovia) all are all very nice and quite close. And Madrid itself will keep you busy for a few days anyway

Barcelona: the city itself is very nice and you'll find many interesting things to see and do, but there's not much to see around it, except great beaches in the Costa Brava to the north, but now it's a bit late for that. Tarragona (roman ruins and nice archeological museum) is worth a day trip, but that's about it.

    Have fun!

  2. madrid or seville. check out a map maybe and try some different locations and prices. it might be cheaper to fly into madrid and then take a train to other cities instead of flying to that city directly

  3. Well Madrid is in the middle of the country so that would be the best option to get to other cities easily.

Barcelona is tucked away up in the far northeast corner.
